Delivering excellent training and research at the interface of applied mathematics, numerical analysis, probability, and statistics
SAMBa supports multidisciplinary mathematical PhD research, often in collaboration with external partners. We host a diverse cohort of researchers in an inclusive environment who explore mathematical modelling, inspired by real world phenomena, both in abstraction and incorporating data. This research spectrum includes rapidly developing areas of mathematical sciences including, machine learning, uncertainty quantification, optimisation, high-dimensional statistics and numerical stochastic modelling.
Postgraduate researchers undertake a four-year integrated programme of research in a world-class environment with opportunities to work flexibly across disciplines. They are trained to become fearless in formulating large-scale challenges in the language of statistical applied mathematics and become leading problem solvers.
Diversity is an essential component of SAMBa’s success and enables us to deliver the best research and training experience.
