Staff and PGR students in the Department were treated to fantastic presentations from SAMBa students who are starting their PhD research.
Transfer day provided a wonderful opportunity for staff and PGR students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences to hear from SAMBa students who are starting their PhD research. In a series of engaging presentations, six students presented an overview of the preparatory work they have been doing and their planned research directions.
Yasir Abdi – Voronoi cells in split trees with heavy-tailed split distribution
Amin Sabir – Plug-and-play regularisation techniques for inverse problems
Bill Nunn – Particle systems with infinite type spaces
Annie Russell – Investigating the effect of sequential therapy on disease activity levels in patients with psoriatic arthritis using causal inference
Wenhui Ni – Probalistic numerics for statistical shape models
Chuanjie Wu – Operator-norm convergence and wave propagation for resonant thin structures
