Addie (they/them) graduated from the University of Bath with an MMath in 2025 after completing a project in mathematical biology which extended the traditional SIR model to simulate burnout in secondary school maths teachers, as if it were a disease, in an attempt to “cure” the maths teacher crisis. As they join SAMBa, Addie is eager to develop their interests in mathematical biology and environmental modelling, specifically in the context of epidemiology, oncology and climatology.

Alongside their keen interest in applied and interdisciplinary mathematics, Addie contributes to a number of outreach and education projects, such as Behind the Research and PhDYourWay.  They are committed to demolishing knowledge barriers and demystifying academia to create a more inclusive and diverse field of study. In the rare event that they have any free time, Addie enjoys cooking and baking for their friends before exploiting their mathematics background to terrorise these same friends in board/video games.
