Fiona graduated from Durham University in 2022 with an MMath in Mathematics. Her dissertation, titled “The Use of Matrix Models for RNA Modelling”, explored how matrix models can generate Feynman diagrams representing RNA strands, analysed the topological properties of these diagrams, and investigated approaches to solve these models using methods such as steepest descent and recursion relations. After graduating, she worked as a software engineer in both big tech and startup companies. Her research interests include PDE’s, math bio and environmental modelling.
Outside of maths, Fiona is a keen runner and competes in 5k, 10k and cross-country races. She also likes wild swimming, reading and crochet.
