Adwaye studied MMORSE at Warwick University. His final year project was titled “Solving Differential Equations Probabilistically” and while working on this project he became interested in applied mathematics and decided to do a PhD in that area. He is currently interested in Uncertainty Quantification. While at Warwick, he interned at a couple of finance companies, including one which works with insurance companies. Outside of math, he enjoys playing football and sports in general.
Research project title: Automatic diagnosis of psoriasis arthritis (xAPAD)
Supervisor(s): Neill Campbell, Tony Shardlow, Gavin Shaddick, Will Tillett
Project description: Patients with Psoriasis Arthritis are graded according to the extent of damage by scoring X-rays. In collaboration with the Bath Royal National Hospital of Rheumatic Diseases, Adwaye worked on automating this scoring process by exploring machine learning techniques from the computer vision community. He worked towards building a statistical model of a healthy hand to be compared to a diseased hand enabling the scoring process to be automated. This will enable scoring to be performed on a large-scale basis that will ultimately increase the understanding of how the disease progresses within patients.
